Lovenkrands close to new Ibrox deal - agent

Rangers striker Peter Lovenkrands is poised to sign a new Ibrox deal within 10 days.

The Danish international has become a fans’ favourite after scoring six times against Celtic, including two cup final winners since his arrival in the summer of 2000.

Now Lovenkrands and his agent, Ivan Benes, are on the verge of completing the formalities on a new contract with the Light Blues.

Benes told The Mirror: “We will have it very soon and are just waiting for confirmation from Rangers. We are very close and there are no problems.

“Rangers will announce everything maybe in the next seven or 10 days.”

But fellow forward Michael Mols is still waiting on any information on a new deal at the club according to his agent, Rob Jansen.

The Dutchman had featured mainly as a substitute this season before his CIS Insurance Cup final start on Sunday.

But Jansen concedes Mols must wait until the summer before deciding on his next move.

He told The Scottish Daily Mail: “We are waiting for an invitation from Rangers – it is up to them.

“I was in Glasgow a month ago and Rangers said then that they would make up their minds on a deal and inform us.

“Michael respects the support of the Rangers fans enormously.

“He would love to stay but, at the moment, all Michael and I can do is wait and see.”
