Wilkinson says he will bounce back

Howard Wilkinson today spoke of his “profound shock and bitter disappointment” at being sacked by Sunderland – but insisted the experience had whetted his appetite to take over at another club.

Wilkinson and his number two Steve Cotterill had their contracts terminated last night after five months at Sunderland during which the club had slumped to the bottom of the Premiership.
