Fergie waits on trio

Alex Ferguson will give injured trio Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Wes Brown every chance of making Sunday’s Worthington Cup Final.

Scholes (groin) should make it but Brown (hamstring) and Giggs (thigh) are both extremely doubtful after picking up knocks in the past week.

Mikael Silvestre has been passed fit and will probably partner Rio Ferdinand in central defence if Brown is ruled out, with John O’Shea lining up at left-back, allowing skipper Roy Keane to revert to his favoured midfield berth.

Diego Forlan (ankle ligaments) is definitely out, while South African midfielder Quinton Fortune looks likely to be added to the squad after coming through a reserve team outing against Blackburn last night.

Squad: Barthez, Carroll, Ricardo, G Neville, Brown, Ferdinand, Silvestre, O’Shea, Beckham, P Neville, Scholes, Keane, Veron, Butt, Giggs, Van Nistelrooy, Solskjaer, Roche, Richardson, Pugh, Fletcher.
