The Government has published legislation aimed at ensuring that sporting events designated as culturally important will be available free of charge on Irish terrestrial television.

The list of events was approved by the Government in October following public outcry at the FAI's decision to sell exclusive coverage of Irish internationals to the British broadcaster Sky Sports.
