Beckham named in United starting line-up

David Beckham has been named in Manchester United’s starting line-up for the Champions League second group phase clash against Juventus tonight.

Beckham’s name was the most eagerly-awaited one on the team sheet after he was accidentally struck just above his left eye by a football boot kicked by manager Alex Ferguson in the dressing room following last Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Arsenal.

The club have tried to play down the incident and the England captain himself insisted last night that there was “complete harmony” at Old Trafford and described the incident as “just one of those things”.

The United team showed just one change from that which lost to the Gunners at the weekend, Nicky Butt coming in for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
