Owen dropped as Reds look to hammer West Ham
Liverpool have dropped Michael Owen for their clash with West Ham at Upton Park today.
Liverpool arrive at Upton Park today looking for their 200th victory since the formation of the Premiership, but knowing east London was not the happiest of hunting grounds.
Gerard Houllier’s men last win at West Ham was in 1996 and the manager is resting Michael Owen and Bruno Cheyrou from the midweek draw at home to Arsenal, with Milan Baros and Vladimir Smicer both starting instead.
Hammers boss Glenn Roeder makes two changes to the team who secured their first home win of the season in the league on Wednesday against Blackburn.
Steve Lomas is suspended and Ian Pearce is injured, so in comes Trevor Sinclair and Christian Dailly. New signing Rufus Brevett is on the bench.
