Alex Ferguson has urged Roy Keane to follow Alan Shearer’s example by quitting international football to prolong his Old Trafford career.

Shearer has gone from strength to strength for Newcastle since retiring from England duty after Euro 2000 and Ferguson believes Keane could do the same.
