England defender Jonathan Woodgate travelled to Tyneside last night ready to climb aboard Newcastle’s Champions League bandwagon.

The 23-year-old Leeds defender headed north after the Magpies were granted permission to discuss personal terms after the Elland Road club accepted a £9m (€13.7m) bid.
