Former Irish international Denis Irwin has urged Ireland fans to give new manager Brian Kerr time to make his mark.

The 49-year-old Dubliner, who has enjoyed unprecedented success with the Irish youth set-up, was appointed as Mick McCarthy's replacement yesterday.
