Boss Liam Murphy resigned in the final trauma for Cork City as their promising season petered out to nothing with a first home defeat to the league as UCD gallantly got the win they needed to avoid the play-off.

The only goal of a poor game came a minute before the interval. City, who had created little at the other end, failed to defend a John Martin corner and Alan Gallen forced the ball home.
