Farnborough’s FA Cup dream lasted all of 19 minutes at Highbury before Arsenal seized control of their fourth round tie and then remorselessly tightened their grip.

Sol Campbell’s header put the Gunners ahead before Francis Jeffers doubled the lead and then the non-League side’s problems were further magnified when Christian Lee was sent off for a professional foul.

Only the offside flag prevented Arsenal going 3-0 up on 32 minutes as Jeffers flicked the ball into the far corner from van Bronckhorst’s cross.

However, while Arsenal were now relaxing and rarely got out of second gear, still the chances came as Kanu flashed a shot past the post.

Even though the result was beyond any doubt, there was also a flashpoint when Justin Gregory claimed Jeffers had tried to elbow him and responding by trying to kick the Arsenal striker.
