Houllier: Xavier not leaving on loan

Liverpool will not allow defender Abel Xavier to leave Anfield on a loan deal.

Galatasaray have enquired about the player, but Liverpool are only prepared to let him go on a permanent deal.

Boss Gerard Houllier said: "A few agents have been in touch with me but I won't let him go out on loan. No way.

"If he wants to go, he goes but it has to be a transfer. I can understand his situation because he isn't getting regular football at the moment."
