Long-term absentee Ugo Ehiogu is recovering from fractured ribs and a punctured lung and is likely to be out for a further six weeks. Dutch midfielder George Boateng is progressing well after knee surgery and could return by the end of the month.

New arrival John Eustace is included in the squad after completing a month’s loan move from Coventry, but having had just one day’s training with Boro he is unlikely to be involved.
