Wenger slams as 'nonsense' friendly

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger stepped up his opposition to mid-season long-haul international friendlies by describing Brazil’s imminent game in China as “nonsense”.

Wenger is threatening not to release midfielder Gilberto Silva for next month’s match, for which the Brazilian FA have had to promise a virtual full-strength side to guarantee their lucrative appearance fee.
