Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer has been named Barclaycard Player of the Month for December after a series of impressive performances.

Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer has been named Barclaycard Player of the Month for December after a series of impressive performances.

It is the third time the former England marksman has won the award, but the first time since September 1998 during Ruud Gullit’s ill-fated time on Tyneside.
