Speed facing six-week lay-off

Gary Speed has undergone an operation on a hernia which will keep him out of the Premiership clash with Liverpool and for the next six weeks.

But the news of Kieron Dyer is better after a scan on his calf muscle revealed no lasting damage, although he remains a doubt for the visit of Gerard Houllier's side.
