Monday draw for FA Cup

The FA Cup draw is to revert to its traditional Monday lunchtime slot from January.

In a latest attempt to restore the magic of the Cup, the BBC and the Football Association have announced that the draw will return to its original timing after an absence of 10 years.

The new format starts with the draw for the fourth round on January 6 and from then on will take place on Mondays at 1pm.

Paul Barber, the FA's director of marketing and communications said: "It's fantastic that the FA Cup draw is returning to a Monday lunchtime slot.

"I'm sure millions of fans around the country have great memories of gathering around a radio and listening to the draw.

"Now in addition to the radio, the draw will continue to be shown live on TV and also be available to a new international audience of millions through our internet coverage," he added on www.the-fa.org.
