Former Football Association chairman Bert Millichip died this afternoon after collapsing suddenly at a function.

Former Football Association chairman Bert Millichip died this afternoon after collapsing suddenly at a function.

He was taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he died at 3pm.

A spokeswoman for the hospital released the following statement to the Press Association: “Former FA chairman and current president of West Bromwich Albion, Sir Bert Millichip, has died.

“Sir Bert, who was FA chairman between 1981 and 1996, collapsed suddenly at a function and was rushed to Selly Oak Hospital where he died at three o’clock this afternoon.
