Irish pair join Carlisle for trial

Irish youngsters Darren Ash and Darren Gibson have joined Carlisle United on trial.

The 15-year-olds, who have attracted interest from a host of Premiership clubs, will spend a spell at Brunton Park from the Northern Irish club Institute before deciding on their future.

Carlisle hope their connection with former Institute boss Paul Kee, now head of youth at Brunton Park, will persuade them to sign for the Cumbrians.

Assistant manager John Cunningham told the club’s official website: “The fact they have decided to come here is a coup for us as it shows we are an attractive club for young talent.

“We are the only club outside the Premiership that the two lads have decided to trial with.”
