Keane: Spurs flattered by scoreline
Robbie Keane admitted the 3-1 scoreline flattered Tottenham after the north London club‘s Barclaycard Premiership victory over West Brom today.
Christian Ziege and Keane put Spurs in control before Scott Dobie pulled a goal back in the second half with the best goal of the match.
But Gustavo Poyet clinched all three points 10 minutes from time and moved Glenn Hoddle‘s team up to seventh.
Keane told Sky Sports News afterwards: “We didn‘t play very well – but it was tough.
“Take nothing away from West Brom – they worked hard, but the scrappy goal at the end probably flattered us.”
The Ireland striker admitted he took satisfaction from his goal, after being on the receiving end of stick from Baggies fans remembering his days at Black Country rivals Wolves.
He told Sky Sports: “Luckily enough it went in. I played at West Brom early in the season with Leeds and got some stick – but it‘s all part and parcel of the game.”
