Okocha puts Bolton in front

Bolton 1, Blackburn 0 (half-time)

Jay Jay Okocha scored his second goal of the season for Bolton to put them in the driving seat against Blackburn.

The Nigerian midfielder made the breakthrough in the eighth minute after a knock down from Henrik Pedersen.

Djorkaeff was bundled over by Flitcroft in the 36th minute and Frandsen rattled in a free kick from 25 yards. Friedel was well positioned and took it comfortably.

Simon Charlton raced forward for Bolton and whipped in a cross from the byline that found Pedersen.

His shot went narrowly wide but a free kick was awarded for a foul on Charlton by Thompson.

Charlton then tidied up in defence and was happy to concede a corner after Flitcroft had played in a teasing cross.

Bolton were looking to build on their lead going into the break but had to settle for that strike from Okocha.
