Pat Fenlon's side ran out 2-0 winners over Derry City at Tolka Park last night, ensuring the Reds are just seven points off the lead with seven games remaining.
Mark Roberts and Stuart Byrne got the Shelbourne goals, while Derry had Ruairi Boyle sent off.
