Royle linked with Robson swoop

Ipswich manager Joe Royle is rumoured to be on the trail of highly-rated Inverness midfielder Barry Robson.

The 24-year-old, who currently plays in the Scottish First Division, has scored seven times this season, helping Caley Thistle to the top of the league.

Robson hit the net again against Clyde on Saturday and his performances have attracted the interest of Ipswich’s scouts, who are thought to have watched his last two games.

Inverness manager Steve Paterson said: “I’m not surprised there is interest in Barry considering the form he’s been in.

“But he has 18 months of his contract still to go so we’re under no pressure unless we get the right offer.”
