Rovers blew a chance to go third in the table as they were held scoreless at Flancare Park.

Longford started brightly but ex-Rovers man Brian Byrne missed two early chances.

Rovers settled and Stephen Grant forced the first real save of the game from Town keeper Stpehen O'Brien on 35 minutes.

Town took command in the second half and Sean Francis shaved the Rovers bar on 62 minutes before Eric Lavine brought a good stop from Rovers' keeper Tony O'Dowd late on.
