Lomas out for Hammers

West Ham manager Glenn Roeder will again be without midfielder Steve Lomas, whose ankle injury is proving more of a problem than first anticipated, for tomorrow’s visit to Aston Villa.

Lomas, hurt in the 4-3 home defeat by Leeds two weekends ago, has already missed last Sunday’s 1-1 home draw with Manchester United.

But Roeder is still hoping French striker Fredi Kanoute, out with a groin injury since the 3-2 away victory over Chelsea on September 28, will be passed fit to play.

Provisional squad: James; Dailly, Schemmel, Pearce, Repka, Breen, Minto, Winterburn, Cisse, Cole, Carrick, Defoe, di Canio, Kanoute, Camara, Sofiane, Garcia, Van der Gouw.
