Warhurst fails to prove fitness

Bolton midfielder Paul Warhurst has failed in his bid to prove his fitness for the Premiership basement side’s trip to Leeds on Sunday.

The 33-year-old has been sidelined for two months with a persistent groin injury but was hopeful of returning for the game at Elland Road.

Boss Sam Allardyce must also make do without midfielder Gareth Farrelly (groin) and defender Mike Whitlow, who has a leg injury. Simon Charlton comes in to replace the suspended Ricardo Gardner.

Skipper Gudni Bergsson, who has been out with a calf injury, could return after rejoining the squad for training.

Squad: Jaaskelainen, Mendy, Charlton, Frandsen, Barness, N’Gotty, Campo, Nolan, Djorkaeff, Okocha, Ricketts, Poole, Tofting, Pedersen, Walters, Livesey, Holdsworth.
