Bayern boss: We can't stop Hargreaves moving

Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld hopes Owen Hargreaves will be happy to remain a squad player but admits he cannot prevent the England international seeking a move to the Premiership.

Hargreaves, whose contract with the Bundesliga club is due to expire in June 2004, has revealed that he could be tempted by a move to Britain.

The Canada-born midfielder has been a regular in Sven-Goran Eriksson's England squads since first breaking into the side prior to last summer's World Cup.

Hitzfeld told German newspaper Muenchner Merkur: "If he really wants to go and play in England, we cannot change that.

"At the moment he should be happy when he plays. I should say one thing though, people should not expect too much of Owen."
