Controversial goal keeps students down

Jamie Hughes scored a controversial 77th minute winner to prevent UCD coming off the bottom of the table for the first time in three months.

Hughes headed Sean Friars' centre across the UCD goal line from a tight angle.

Defender Clive Delaney hacked the ball clear, but Dublin referee John McDermott was happy it had already crossed the line and gave the score.

Prior to that, UCD created the better chances with Robbie Doyle forcing a good stop from Derry keeper Alan Gough ten minutes into the second half.
