Dobie strike puts West Brom in front
Bolton 0, West Brom 1(half-time)
Scott Dobie’s super strike put West Brom in command of a stormy Premiership basement battle at the Reebok Stadium.
Dobie swung a right-footed volley into the roof of the net in the 17th minute after Neil Clement’s free-kick had been blocked.
Bolton’s misery intensified two minutes later when Bruno N’Gotty was sent off for apparently swinging an elbow at Jason Roberts after being fouled by the Albion striker.
Okocha was trying his best to bring Bolton level and he cut in from the left before hitting a low shot which Hoult had to get down quickly to.
But Roberts was still proving a handful at the other end and he skipped past Campo before being blocked by Gardner as Albion broke speedily.
Gardner wasted a great opportunity in the 37th minute when he dispossessed Balis wide on the left then ballooned his cross high over Hoult’s bar into touch.
McInnes went in the book for Albion after kicking the ball away when Riley had blown up for Bolton free-kick.
Gardner did well to set Djorkaeff clear in the 31st minute but Moore produced a superb saving tackle deep in his own box to send the ball out for a corner.
Roberts should have made it two for Albion in the 44th minute when he skipped around Campo and bore down on goal before seeing his attempted chip tipped over the bar by Jaaskelainen at point-blank range.
Bolton pressed in first half injury-time and Okocha tripped over the ball in the middle of the box as he shaped to shoot.
