Rooney family car targeted by vandals
The car belonging to the family of teenaged Everton FC soccer sensation Wayne Rooney has been targeted by vandals, it emerged today.
The tyres of the Ford Galaxy people-carrier were punctured with nails twice in the last fortnight.
The vandals struck when the car was parked outside the Rooney family’s terraced home in the Croxteth area of Liverpool.
The Rooney family did not report the incidents to police and today declined to comment.
A spokesman for Everton FC also refused to comment.
Rooney, 17, last month became the Premiership’s youngest goal-scorer when he fired a spectacular long-range effort to beat Arsenal.
The youngster was raised on the sprawling Croxteth estate, where he was seen riding his BMX bicycle with friends after first-team performances.
The club is said to be discussing the possibility of moving the family to a detached house on an exclusive development in nearby West Derby, Liverpool.
