Stilian Petrov's agent has claimed the Celtic player has shelved plans to extend his current deal - at least until the summer.

Talks between the Parkhead club and the midfielder had been underway in a bid to tie the highly-rated player to a longer deal.

But Petrov's Bulgarian agent Latchezar Tanev insists those discussions won't continue until the end of the season.

He told the Daily Mail: "After talks with Celtic, our opinion is that now is not the best moment to continue discussing a new contract.

"Stilian would prefer to wait until the summer and see what interesting things happen before then.

"There was nothing wrong with the talks we had with Celtic, but we did not agree anything."
