A bout of flu made Lee Bowyer a shock absentee from the Leeds line-up for tonight’s UEFA Cup tie against Hapoel Tel-Aviv.

With Stephen McPhail dropped to the bench, boss Terry Venables recalled Eirik Bakke and Olivier Dacourt to his midfield for the first leg of this second-round clash at Elland Road.

Republic of Ireland full-backs Gary Kelly and Ian Harte were also restored to the side, with Danny Mills surprisingly named as a substitute and Teddy Lucic ineligible because he played for AIK Solna in the qualifying round.
