Dyer among subs for Newcastle
Kieron Dyer was named only among the substitutes as Newcastle attempted to add the Champions League scalp of Dynamo Kiev to that of Juventus.
The England midfielder, who has missed the last two games with a back injury, returned to the 16, but with Nolberto Solano shaking off an ankle injury, had to wait for his chance.
Steve Harper replaced Shay Given in goal, while Titus Bramble, who impressed against Juventus in the absence of the suspended Nikos Dabizas, retained his place in the starting line-up.
Kiev boss Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko sprang a major surprise by naming dangerman Florin Cernat, who Sir Bobby Robson had man-marked at the Olympic Stadium on September 18, on the bench in one of four changes to the side which won that game 2-0.
Yuriy Dmytrulin, Valentin Belkevich, Badr El Kaddouri and Goran Gavrancic all won recalls.
