Cunningham plays down impact of McCarthy book

Republic of Ireland captain Kenny Cunningham has backed Mick McCarthy over the timing of the release of his World Cup diary.

Ireland take on Switzerland at Lansdowne Road tomorrow night aiming to bounce back from their opening Group 10 qualifier when they lost 4-2 in Russia last month, and the game comes as manager McCarthy’s World Cup diary is being serialised in a Sunday newspaper.
