Shamrock Rovers 2, Bohemians 0 (full-time)

Goals from Terry Palmer and James Keddy ended Bohs' unbeaten start to the season as arch-rivals Rovers won through to meet Derry City in the FAI Cup final on October 27.

Rovers survived good efforts from Paul Keegan and Kevin Hunt to take a 42nd minute lead from their second corner of the game.

Greg Costello floated the ball over and central defender Palmer rose well to loop a header past Ashley Bayes.

Rovers increased their lead on 58 minutes. Tony Gant did very well down the right to steal the ball from Paul McNally and run to the end line to cross for Keddy who forced the ball home off his thigh and put Rovers into their first final in 11 years.
