Sukur will cost Gers £1m a year
Rangers must pay Turkey striker Hakan Sukur £1m (€1.59m) a year if they want to sign him in time for next month‘s Old Firm derby, his agent has warned.
That statement is unlikely to be welcomed at Ibrox as the former champions try to stem enormous financial losses, with the board about to face shareholders at the annual meeting on Monday.
Rangers have confirmed they are interested in signing the 31-year-old free agent – depending on his wage demands.
But Sukur‘s agent Hakan Azman said: “Rangers know the situation and unless they come up with the money we are looking for the deal is dead.
“It is up to Rangers. We are waiting for them to come back to us. Hakan is a top striker so Rangers must pay the going rate if they want to sign a player of his calibre.”
