Gunners looking to stop poor away record
PSV Eindhoven v Arsenal
Dennis Bergkamp led the Arsenal attack tonight at PSV Eindhoven as he made his first European appearance away from Highbury in more than two years.
Bergkamp, who does not fly, made the journey to his native Holland by road and started alongside Thierry Henry as Arsenal looked to put their dismal European away record of last season behind them.
The Gunners lost five and drew one of their six away games last season, scoring just two goals in the process.
They have won just four of the 19 Champions League games on their travels, with the most recent of those victories having come in February last year at Lyon.
That struggle is in marked contrast to their superb domestic away form, going all of last season without a Premiership defeat away from Highbury.
In Eindhoven, they were without Edu and Ray Parlour due to injury but Patrick Vieira returned from a one-match domestic ban.
PSV were able to recall Mark van Bommel after serving a one-match suspension in their opening group game, a goalless draw away to Auxerre, while keeper Ronald Waterreus was back after injury.
