Paolo Di Canio was making his 100th league start for West Ham, while Steve Lomas made his 300th club appearance.

Robbie Keane was handed his Spurs debut by Glenn Hoddle.

Apart from Keane, Hoddle made three other changes to the team that surrendered a two-goal lead at Fulham, with Mauricio Taricco, Jamie Redknapp and Christian Ziege all returning.

Out went Les Ferdinand, Dean Richards, Ben Thatcher and Milenko Acimovic.
