A goal at either end of the first half gave Charlton a 2-0 win at Upton Park.
Claus Jensen seized on a loose ball in the West Ham penalty area to shoot into the roof of the net in the fourth minute and Jon Fortune toe-poked in a minute before the break for a deserved victory.
