Roy Keane was sent off in the dying seconds of Manchester United’s game at Sunderland after apparently elbowing former Republic of Ireland team-mate Jason McAteer.

Roy Keane was sent off in the dying seconds of Manchester United’s game at Sunderland after apparently elbowing former Republic of Ireland team-mate Jason McAteer.

The United skipper appeared to strike McAteer after a heated tussle throughout the Stadium Of Light clash and referee Uriah Rennie reached for the red card.

It is the latest in a series of incidents to blight Keane, who is waiting to hear whether the Football Association will charge him for bringing the game into disrepute after comments made in his recently published autobiography.
