Gerard Houllier believes new Senegalese striker El Hadji Diouf would not have got into hot water on his Premiership debut if he had been English.

Liverpool’s French boss was upset at the treatment of the African player of the year during an eventful league debut in the 1-0 victory at Aston Villa on Sunday.
