Oxford United have released striker Norman Sylla due to a lack of first team opportunities.

The 19-year-old Frenchman signed professional terms at the Kassam Stadium in November 2001.

However, manager Ian Atkins told the club's official website: "Norman has done very well for us, but wasn't likely to play in the first-team this season and we felt he would be better off playing games elsewhere.

"He is going to stay local and I'm sure he will do a great job for a local side, and we can always keep an eye on him over the season."
