Kevin Keegan has signed former England international Tim Flowers on a three-month loan deal to ease his goalkeeping problems.

Kevin Keegan has signed former England international Tim Flowers on a three-month loan deal to ease his goalkeeping problems.

The Manchester City manager secured Flowers from Leicester, where he was second-choice behind Ian Walker, after losing Nicky Weaver and Peter Schmeichel for the start of the season.

Schmeichel should be back in around three weeks from his back injury, but Weaver may need another operation on his knee and could be sidelined for three more months.

Keegan feels the experienced Flowers is the perfect stopgap until then and the 35-year-old Flowers is expected to be on the bench tomorrow when City begin life back in the Premiership at Leeds.

Marc Vivien Foe has been cleared to make his Premiership debut for City after the Football Association decided not to impose a four-match ban left over from his time with West Ham.
