Leeds medical due for Okon

Paul Okon will officially become a Leeds United player this morning if he passes a medical.

The 30-year-old, who has moved to the club on a free transfer, will be Terry Venables’ second signing following the purchase of Nick Barmby.

Former Lazio and Fiorentina man Okon played under Venables when the Elland Road boss was in charge of Australia’s national squad.

He has been targeted by Venables to help provide extra cover for the midfield area. Harry Kewell and Eirik Bakke, two players in his position, both spent time out injured last season.
