Brazilian new boy Gilberto Silva marked his arrival in English soccer with the goal that earned Arsenal victory.

His 68th minute strike broke the deadlock in this Community Shield clash in Cardiff, where the champions finally broke down Liverpool’s determined defence and beat the brilliant Jerzy Dudek to deservedly claim the trophy.
