Gerard Houllier is backing a mid-season break - but does not want to see the Barclaycard Premiership reduced from the current 20 clubs.

The Liverpool boss - who starts his own campaign in Cardiff on Sunday in the Community Shield against Arsenal - is a firm believer in a winter break for the English game.
