El Tel turns to Okon and Barmby
Leeds are set to unveil Australia captain Paul Okon as their second new signing of the summer alongside Nick Barmby today.
The former Middlesbrough midfielder was due to discuss terms at Elland Road this morning and the club could complete the signing later today.
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale told the club’s official website, www.leedsunited.com: ‘‘We are speaking to him in the morning and if those talks go alright he will undergo a medical and we will look to sign him.’’
Sydney-born Okon, who spent three months on loan at Watford last season, was released by Boro in the summer.
Barmby’s £2.75m (€4.34m) switch from Liverpool should be finalised today after the club confirmed that terms had been agreed.
