Kluivert would consider Newcastle move
Dutch superstar Patrick Kluivert has admitted he would like to play in the Premiership and might seriously consider an approach from Newcastle.
Bobby Robson was interested in the Holland striker last summer but received no encouragement from either the Spanish side or the player.
Kluivert, who trained with the rest of his team-mates at Chester-le-Street today ahead of Barca’s friendly clash with United at St James’ Park tomorrow night, admitted he was aware of Robson’s interest but said he was settled in Barcelona at the time.
However, he revealed if any future offer came, it would not be rejected out of hand.
"I like the Premiership," he told Newcastle’s official website, www.nufc.co.uk.
"It’s a good league and I know that many clubs have been linked with me in the past.
"I was aware that Newcastle United wanted me, but at that time I was very happy at Barca and wanted to stay so I don’t know how far the interest went.
"But things change and I’ve been at Barcelona for five years now, so who knows what will happen in the future?
"I’d consider any offer that came in, and if Newcastle were still interested in me, then why not?
"I know Newcastle are a great club and a good team, and my team-mates in the national team who have played for Mr Robson say he is a good coach and also a fantastic man."
