Ferguson injury woe continues

Everton’s injury-jinxed Scottish ace Duncan Ferguson must see a specialist over his back injury.

The 30-year-old striker missed Everton’s 2-2 draw last night in a friendly at Hibernian due to the persistent problem.

Ferguson has suffered with the same injury for months, the latest in a long list of set backs he has had at the club.

But boss David Moyes still believes Ferguson will be fit for the Premiership opener on August 17.

‘‘We are sending him to a specialist because he has started to miss a little bit too much training which is beginning to concern me,’’ he said.

‘‘He doesn’t feel he is quite at the level he wants to be at present. But we still have two-and-a-half weeks before the start of the season.’’

The new Goodison Park chief also has other casualties to worry about following the Easter Road game.

Alessandro Pistone sustained a hamstring strain and David Weir needed stitches in a head wound.
