Fairview cause only FAI Cup shock

Fairview Rangers will fly the flag for non-league football after their shock win over Dublin City at the Fairgreen grounds in Limerick this afternoon.

The former FAI Junior Cup champions put four past their Dublin opposition after Dublin City's Derek McGrath had levelled for the visitors in the first half.

Elsewhere it wasn't a good day for the minnows although Malahide United came close at Gannon Park.

Having dominated the first half against Cobh Ramblers, Joey Malone's side nearly took the lead shortly before half time with only the woodwork denying Stephen Dickson.

But Ramblers with their wind at their backs finally went ahed on 64 minutes when Jason Kabia connected with his header following a corner from player manager, Dave Hill.

At Inchicore, Longford came from behind to defeat CIE Ranch 5-1 while Sligo Rovers accounted for Greystones at the Carlisle Grounds in a one goal decider.
